Material Description:
Originating in the Spring and Autumn period and formed in the Song Dynasty, Song brocade is known as the “crown of Chinese brocades” in later times. It is a fabric of the highest level in traditional Chinese textiles. The production process of Song brocade is rather complex, featuring the simultaneous display of patterns on both the warp and weft threads. The patterns are symmetrical, rigorous yet varied, rich and colorful, and fluid and vivid.

Color Description:
Moon Essence, Rice Porridge Delicacy, Copper Green
The silvery moonlight, bright and clear, is captivating and is called [Moon Essence Gray]; the slightly yellowish-white rice porridge, with a touch of tenderness, conveys a sense of delicacy through its white with a hint of yellow, which is [Rice Porridge Delicacy]; the copper green is extracted from the bronze vessels of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, symbolizing power and hierarchy. The beauty of the moonlight, the tenderness of the rice porridge, and the solemnity of the bronze are interwoven on the silk Song brocade fabric, presenting a playful yet dignified aesthetic.

Pattern Description:
Lotus and Branch Pattern
The lotus and branch pattern is a type of continuous pattern, a traditional auspicious design. As one of the decorative patterns on porcelain, it is called the continuous pattern due to the continuous twisting of the flower branches. In the Ming Dynasty, it was known as “turning branch”.
The lotus represents both the prosperity of “boundless green lotus leaves reaching to the sky, and the lotus flowers in the sun are exceptionally red” and the purity of “rising from the mire yet unstained, washed in clear water yet not showy”. It also symbolizes the character of a recluse among flowers.
Integrating the lotus and branch pattern into new Chinese-style clothing will bring a sense of elegance, purity, and grace.
